I recently wrote about J. Crew’s new specialty men’s store in New York. Well, it just opened but before it did, Michael Williams of the excellent blog A Continuous Lean, got a hold of some wonderful pictures shot by photographer Brian Berman.
It’s a great looking store and I can’t wait to check it out the next time I’m in New York. Interestingly though, I was just speaking with New York clothier Jay Koz and he asked me what I thought of Crew’s mens wear store. I said that although I had not actually been in it, I thought it bore an interesting resemblance to Kos’ own Park Avenue boutique. Well, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
With the wonderful images provided by ACL, I still say J. Crew’s creative folks must have at least taken some notes while strolling past Kos’ store. Though more rustic and “Rugby-ish” than Jay Kos, floor design, lifestyle themes, colors and product display are similar.
In the end though, it doesn’t really matter because the stuff is what matters and both J. Crew’s and Jay Kos’ stuff are at the top of my list.
