After years of hosting successful Washington, D.C. pop-up shops, luxury menswear brand Ledbury has arrived in the Capitol City’s tony Georgetown neighborhood with a much-anticipated permanent brick-and-mortar store. The new store will be located in Cady’s Alley, just off M Street, Georgetown’s high street.
As they have not yet revealed the look of their new shop, the images we use here are from an earlier visit to Ledbury’s awesome-on-its-own flagship store and offices in Richmond, Virginia. But worry not, we’ll be checking out the new digs, and reporting back, shortly.
With its focus on exceptional fabrics and exacting ready-to-wear fits, OTC has long been a fan of Ledbury. Co-founders CEO Paul Tribble and COO Paul Watson met while in graduate at Oxford and apprenticed on Saville Row as a way to gain firsthand shirtmaking knowledge. Their distinctly Southern takes on classic English style and construction make for elegantly comfortable clothes that work well in any situation.
Ledbury’s shirts are known for their great fit, high-quality construction, and the way they can be worn in almost any setting. As the founds like to point out, the signature look and design of Ledbury’s shirts means they can be worn in any setting by any generation. The company’s collections are influenced by the studied tailoring of English tradition as well as the relaxed atmosphere of the founders’ Southeast U.S. roots. Ledbury’s range also includes blazers, pants, and shorts.
“Washington, D.C., is currently our second strongest market – we think it can be first. Our success with Georgetown pop-up shops showed us the incredible promise of this city, which is why we are now opening a permanent location,” Trible said. “We can’t wait to open our doors. I’m especially excited to give D.C. access to our made-to-measure shirtmaking for the first time. This service was tailor-made for the Capital City.”
The Ledbury Georgetown store will offer the brand’s full ready-to-wear collection, highlighting the brand’s signature shirt collection and including sport coats, sweaters, pants, ties and accessories. The store will act as a showroom – customers will be able to browse and try on the full range of products, and store associates will help them place orders to be shipped directly to the customer’s home.
The store will also feature made-to-measure shirtmaking services with a dedicated lounge to receive customers.
The new store’s design predominantly features milled wood, with accents of steel and leather. Reclaimed wood is used in repetition for walls, furniture and shelving to lend a minimal, but warm scene to showcase Ledbury’s Spring Collection. As a nod to D.C., former President Harry S. Truman’s shirt pattern, from Ledbury’s Richmond workshop archives, is framed and hung in the made-to-measure lounge.
“We love the tight footprint of the space because it allows us to focus on one-on-one customer service – which is our specialty. Though walk-ins are of course always welcome, we will encourage both made-to-measure and personal shopping appointments, giving our associates the opportunity to prepare a more custom experience,” said Watson.
Ledbury currently operates two locations in their hometown of Richmond, VA. This Georgetown will be their first outside of Richmond and third overall location.
I wonder if Messrs. Tribble and Watson use their own trophy mounts for the stores. Their store designs are unique, warm and inviting. It’s so simple to get hooked on bespoke shirts.
